Setting up your bamboo fountain is simpler than you might think. With the right container and a few minutes of your time, you'll have a peaceful water feature running in no time.
What You'll Need
- Your Bamboo Accents fountain kit (spout + pump)
- A container or pot (at least 8" deep for most fountains)
- Clean water
- Optional: decorative rocks or pebbles
Step 1: Choose Your Container
The container is just as important as the fountain itself. Look for:
- Depth: At least 8 inches for most fountain sizes
- Width: Should accommodate the full span of your fountain arms
- Material: Ceramic, stone, or glazed pots work beautifully
- Watertight: Make sure there are no drainage holes, or seal them
A glazed ceramic pot in earth tones creates a beautiful contrast with the natural bamboo.
Step 2: Position the Pump
Place the submersible pump at the bottom of your container. Our pumps come with suction cups to keep them secure.
Pro tip: Position the pump slightly off-center so the cord can run along the edge of the pot, keeping it hidden.
Step 3: Connect the Tubing
Attach the included tubing to your pump's outlet. The tubing should run up through the center of your fountain's vertical bamboo pole.
Make sure the tubing fits snugly—a loose connection can affect water flow.
Step 4: Fill with Water
Fill your container with clean water until the pump is fully submerged. The water level should be:
- At least 1 inch above the pump intake
- Below the rim to prevent splashing overflow
Step 5: Adjust the Flow
Turn on your fountain and use the pump's flow control dial to adjust the water pressure.
- Lower flow: Gentle trickle, quieter sound
- Higher flow: More dramatic splash, louder sound
Experiment until you find the sound that brings you peace.
Maintenance Tips
- Top off water weekly to account for evaporation
- Clean monthly by wiping the bamboo with a damp cloth
- Bring indoors in freezing weather to protect the bamboo
